Sunday Funday: After Brunch at Conde Duque

After Brunch will be presenting its first Open Air Festival offering a great line up with the most sought after electronic music in Madrid, food trucks and a flea market, all together at Cine Garden Conde Duque, a large patio which also hosts summer open air movie screenings.

Hours: Sunday July 17th from 2pm to 1am

How do you combine your love for surfing and film here in Madrid? The Madrid Surf Film Festival of course! Enjoy watching films that show off the passion for the ocean, the sport of surfing, and the good times that come out of the beach culture. Cineteca Matadero hosts this three day festival in hopes of connecting film directors, professionals, athletes, and fans through the picture on the big screen.




Bicycle Film Festival Madrid

Do you like bicycling or film? Then don’t miss the chance to combine the two in the Bicycle Film Festival in Madrid going on March 10-13. Get the chance to view shorts, documentaries, and full-length films. This festival has been going on for over 15 years so come out and celebrate the art of film while enjoying the world of bicycling!




Madrid summer film festivals – open-air cinemas, special screenings and more!

Summer in Madrid is great if you like film, because you’ll find tons of open-air screenings and the city’s theaters and museums offering special deals (i.e. tickets cost around 3€). For example, Madrid’s Palacio de Cibeles sets up a big screen underneath its glass roof. The cultural center, Conde Duque, and the French Institute put on films in their courtyards.

DocumentaMadrid – 12th International Festival of Spanish Documentary Films

From the 30th of April to the 10th of May, check out DocumentaMadrid – an international festival of Madrid documentary films. Get to watch more than 80 films in one of Madrid’s most prestigious cinemas — Cineteca in El Matadero Madrid (a former slaughterhouse turned cultural center).

Yelmo Cine Club Throwbacks on Tuesday Nights at 8:30pm, Tickets Only 4,50 Eur!

Tuesday nights just got a whole lot better now that some of history’s most iconic films are being played on the big screen! This event is perfect for all film lovers and anyone who simply wants to stop being made fun of for not having seen classics like Saturday Night Llive (1975), for example. From now until March, come to the cinema to enjoy films from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s! Up next, Ridley Scott’s Thelma and Louise (1991)!




Film & Cook — a foodie film festival at La Cineteca in El Matadero

If you enjoy food and film, then this festival is for you. Film & Cook is taking place on Sat and Sun in El Matadero‘s very own theater, La Cineteca. The festival will showcase movies related to gastronomy and food will be served along with each film! Fiesta del Cine; Spain-wide film festival featuring new releases and classics!

 

Fiesta del Cine begins this Monday, the 27th, and continues until Wednesday, the 29th, during which time all films in participating theatres can be watched for just 2,90€.  The event takes place across Spain in over 250 different venues, listed under Salas Adheridas on their webpage.  Films shown in each venue vary; both new and old can be found, as well as screenings in V.O. (Original Version) with subtitles, in cinemas such as Yelmo Cines and Renoir.

Fiesta del Cine is a great excuse to explore the theatres of Madrid, at the very economic price of 2,90€!
