Mercado de Diseño – Design Market at Matadero

Design and tech geeks out there – brace yourselves! Mercado de Diseño is back at Matadero to bring together design and technology at the market’s fourth edition. This year’s theme is #funnytech and will bring into the spotlight the freshest talents in design in Madrid. It will be a weekend for culture, food and fun.




Superhero Exhibit at Museo ABC

Get a chance to see the history of Spanish drawings (almost 200 original works by 47 Spanish artists) of the biggest superheroes such as Superman, Batman, and Spiderman in the upcoming superhero exhibit at Museo ABC. Explore how the figures were brought to life in the Spanish depictions of the American classics.




Room Art Fair #5

Get a chance to look at some of the work from emerging young European artists at the Room Art Fair #5 happening February 26-28 at the Hotel Petit Palace Santa Bárbara. This international and independent exhibit aims to showcase art in an accessible manner that diminishes the barrier to the general public. Some of the artists include: Bolo Blas, Emo Díaz, Marcelo Fiedler, and Ms Nina.




Design Market & Food Trucks at Mercado Central de Diseño at El Matadero

Ever few months, a design market takes place at El Matadero, a former slaughterhouse turned cultural center and arguably the city’s coolest venue. If you’ve never been, this weekend’s your chance! Expect to see over 160 designers, workshops, live performances and 20 food trucks, plus much more!

El Matadero is just a few stops away from Sol. Entrance to El Mercado Central de Diseño costs €2.

#PeoplesVoices Photo Exhibit at Telefónica off Gran Vía

A really cool photography exhibit is going on at the Telefónica flagship store, right off Gran Vía on calle Fuencarral, until September 18th. It captures voices from the UN’s largest survey ever – 8 million participants from 194 countries – speaking for a better world. Here’s more info from CheapinMadrid.com.

Forest Design Market in a PALACE near Sol

Don’t you just love how many markets Madrid has? We do! Mercado Central de Diseño is hosting a special edition of its design market on June 5, 6 and 7 at Palacio de Gaviria (yes, a former palace indeed) not far from Sol. Here you’ll find the finest in Spanish design, concerts and of course, great food. Entrance costs 2€ plus a drink.




Madrid Street Art Project in Lavapiés

From May 7th – 21st, the whole neighborhood of Lavapiés will be turned into a blank canvas. Over forty urban artists will be painting, spraying and setting up beer bottles on the streets, storefronts, traffic lights, you name it. This year’s edition of Madrid Street Art Project is the perfect excuse to head on over to Lavapiés, support local artists and enjoy Madrid at its finest. Plus some of our favorite places, like Swinton & Grant (featured in the photo), will be getting a nice makeover. So get out, walk the streets and check it out!
